City Power Johannesburg embarked on a programme that would upgrade their existing metering infra-structure
and enhance customer service in January 2007.
It was recognised that in general, confidence in their existing metering and billing system was low because of numerous incorrect readings and estimations, and something had to be done to turn this around. An improvement in customer relations and confidence would also positively influence the revenue cycle within the organisation.
The initial decision was therefore taken to implement Meteringonline for their key customers and large power users with the focus being on customer service.
Meteringonline was chosen because they needed a system to not only provide billing data at month end, but also to deliver load data and pricing information to their customers on a daily basis, allowing them to manage their energy costs and make sound energy choices via a dedicated user-friendly Internet interface.
To date, more than 6,000 City Power customers are metered using Meteringonline.
